In honor of the Globe holiday favorite Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, over a thousand children every year from Title One Schools in San Diego County are invited to participate in the Grinch Initiatives, special programs designed to foster an appreciation of both literacy and live theatre and to enhance the theatregoing experience of San Diego's students.
These Initiatives include student matinee performances The Grinch, called Seussabrations, free teacher workshops prior to the performance, study guides related to the experience and the Book Buddies program, which encourages student literacy.
This year, the Globe will also offer a special autism-friendly performance of The Grinch on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10:30 a.m. Following in the footsteps of successful autism-friendly performances of The Lion King and Mary Poppins on Broadway, The Grinch will be performed in a friendly and supportive environment for children on the autism spectrum and their families.
