Securing a San Diego Landmark
Securing a San Diego Landmark, he Globe’s capital and endowment campaign, was launched in March 2006 to raise $75 million before the theatre’s 75th Anniversary in 2010.
The campaign was completed in December 2009, and these campaign gifts were designated for specific purposes, such as facilities construction or endowment to secure the Globe’s long-term stability, including:
- $22 MILLION TO INCREASE THE ENDOWMENT, ensuring the long-term financial health of the organization and the continued extraordinary level and variety of Globe productions;
- $22 MILLION TO SUPPORT THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW FACILITIES, including a new second theatre and a new education center;
- $31 MILLION to provide a reliable source of support for annual programs as the endowment grows, including $10 million DESIGNATED FOR MAJOR NEW INITIATIVES which include the commission and development of new works and education programs.
Although the construction of the building has been completed and these funds are largely secured, the Globe is in constant need of replenishing its accounts for facility maintenance and artistic support.
